"You're just a big fat monkey tird"

So i read the news today. Israel's blowing stuff up, Lebanon's being evacuated, Iran's talking some phatty smack (thats jive for "rhetoric"), and i know that North Korea's happy to have the attention drawn away from the nuclear program they have worked so hard to maintain in order to provide much needed power to their suffering masses. Needless to say there should be a pile of headlines around all these things. lots of information to share, things to learn and discuss etc.

so as i surf CNN.com, what's the number 1 most popular news link/video on the internet? our president dropping what is being called "the sh_t heard round the world." nevermind the escalation of violence, all out war, ever increasing threats to american and global security, we're too busy giggling like 4th graders over a dirty word.

i swore once. i was in fourth grade (my first year away from the country school by my house, in full on public education.) i was playing chess in mrs. nottingham's class (i used to be a pretty sweet chess player) at lunch or something, and royally screwed up. anyway, this mistake drew the same executive expletive from my lips, only a little louder, yet less publicized. luckily for me, mrs. nottingham was not only handicapped and confined to an electric cart, she was also nearly deaf. apparently these are the things 4th graders remember.

a funny cussing story from Alexis comes to mind (referring to a Croatian student):

"One time last fall we were texting students that last year's summer project had met to see if they wanted to meet us. I remember taking great pains to come across in a kind and non-threatening manner, and one girl wrote back: Fack you!!!!
Plain and simple, just like that. It stung, I'm not gonna lie. But it was also dang funny."

anyway, the point. i don't know why profanity makes us laugh or feel like we're real adults, but i think everyone will agree that dirty words are far more important than foreign affairs and the like. thanks CNN.

great Zoran. we'll have you living in America, wearing a red sweater, and campaigning for the re-re-election of George W. Bush in no time.

you're a closet republican, no need to hide it anymore.
